We provide contract manufacturing for many industries. Most notable are the medical, electronic, micro-mechanical, and metrology industries.
Benefits of Micromachining with Ultrafast Lasers- No damage to adjacent material
- No wavelength dependence
- No de-lamination
- No splatter
- No heat-affected zone (HAZ)
- Precise, repeatable results
- Sub-micron features
- Machine virtually any material – from metals to crystals to glass, ceramics & teflon
Micro-DrillingWe routinely drill holes ranging from 1 micron to 1 mm in diameter in virtually any material including refractory metals and glass.
Micro-MillingWe can mill virtually any geometry into a wide range of materials such as polymers (photo), metals, ceramics, glasses, and semiconductors.
Surface PatterningLike drilling and milling, surface patterning can be performed in many materials including crystals (photo).
Heat sensitive materialsOur processing technology is a “cold” process in that there is very little heat deposited into the bulk material. Thus, heat sensitive materials, like the nitinol sample (photo), can be machined without destroying the physical properties of the material.
Precious MetalsOur technology is fully compatible with all metals including precious ones such as platinum, platinum alloys, and other biologically friendly materials.
PolymersWe can process nearly every kind of polymer and regularly expand our repertoire of processing techniques to be compatible with even more.
Contacts and ElectrodesWe machine a variety of electrodes, contact bands and other similar parts that are excised from thin foils, usually around 1 mil (25.4 microns) thick. Materials for these parts include precious metals, refractory metals, and a variety of alloys. All are precisely machined with extremely high quality and reproducibility and are absent of significant heat-affected zones, burrs, or other deteriorative chemical or physical properties. Parts range from very simple geometries to complex structures, have outer dimensions from a few millimeters up to tens of centimeters, and have internal features as small as a few microns. In some cases the foil is laminated to other materials and the processing can often be controlled to stop at an interface layer without causing de-lamination of the metal.
